When a violent crime takes place and someone is victimized, who is there for the victim when the police clear the scene, and everyone goes home? Who will take the time to help them through the healing process? Who is caring for the victims of violent crime in our community?
On July 26, 2014, Helping Hands Community Outreach, Second Baptist Church and Victory in Power Ministries present “Living to Move Forward” at Hara Arena. This event will provide an opportunity for people who have been tragically affected by violent crime to share their stories and bring greater awareness of how deeply violent crime impacts our communities and their lives. The goal of this event is to deliver appropriate support to victims of violent crime. We want this program to be a source of hope and healing for those who have been wounded by the violent actions of others and to respond with compassion and love for the purpose of meeting the needs of the victims.
Through this event, we are going to demonstrate the power of forgiveness and healing through love and support of others. We want to show the victims of violent crime that they are not alone. Events such as this are of great importance. We hope this event will provide strength and encouragement to so many hurting people. Along with the victims as presenters at this event, there will be speakers from various facets of the court system, safety/law enforcement officials, and government. There will also be booths offering community resources and information, vendor booths, and music.
