DVAM 2015 is Now!

1st Annual Candlelight Vigil

On the evening of October 3rd, Hope Rising will join the nation in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness month by recognizing the victims of Domestic Violence in Collin County with a Candlelight Vigil on the lawn of the McKinney Performing Arts Center.

All donations at this event will benefit Hope’s Door, the Collin County Women’s Shelter, established in 1986. Hope's Door is a shelter and counseling center that offers comprehensive programs and services that are designed to help break the cycle of domestic abuse. Hope's Door provides direct intervention and prevention services to families affected by domestic abuse in Collin County, Dallas County, and surrounding areas. Candles will be available at the event for a suggested donation.

The Keynote Speaker at the First Annual Candlelight Vigil will be Tara Woodlee of Ashleigh’s Patience Project. Other presenters at this event include, North Texas Opera on Tap and The Women of the 2013 McKinney Premiere of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues”.

Hope Rising invites all residents of McKinney and beyond to join in for a few moments of silence to honor those who have struggled, are currently struggling or have lost the struggle against domestic violence.
