The purpose of Our Words is to use written word and photography to spread awareness of the emotional scars that domestic violence can cause, as well as the incredible strength and resiliency shown by survivors of violence. Participants include survivors of domestic violence and community members who wish to show their support of the cause. They will complete a prompt related to domestic violence. These statements will be displayed on a placard, and participants will be photographed holding their words. Participants may choose whether or not to show their face in the photos.
The photos will be posted daily to Brighter Tomorrows' Facebook page throughout the month of October, building a photo collage of support, wisdom, and strength surrounding the issue of domestic violence.
Survivors and community members interested in participating in this photo project during Domestic Violence Awareness Month are encouraged to "like" Brighter Tomorrows on Facebook and contact Sara Campos, Domestic Violence Program Coordinator at 972-263-0506, ext. 104.
