My Sister’s Place (MSP), Washington, DC’s oldest domestic violence shelter, is coordinating with the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCCADV) to host The Clothesline Project on the National Mall from October 28th through October 30th. The event will include an Unveiling Ceremony on Monday, October 29th. Real survivors tell their stories of abuse, despair, hope, and empowerment by expressing their feelings and experiences of domestic violence through their own art on t-shirts, which are displayed on a clothesline held by victim advocates and volunteers. Victims often suffer in silence and shame. MSP’s Clothesline Project gives them a voice, draws attention to this pervasive public health issue, and showcases our community’s support for all people – women, men and children – who have experienced domestic violence.
